Computing

At St Andrew's CE Primary School, we follow the Teach Computing curriculum to ensure all pupils develop the knowledge, confidence and skills they need in Computing to prepare them for a rapidly changing technological world.
Across the year and throughout the wider curriculum, children use computing skills with clear purpose to enhance and extend their learning in all subjects. They are encouraged to use technology creatively, responsibly and independently, developing motivation, problem-solving skills and collaboration in a range of contexts. We want pupils to understand that computing is an essential part of modern life and a powerful tool for learning, communication, finding information and understanding the world around them.
The Computing curriculum is structured around three key strands:
- Digital literacy
- Information technology
- Computer science
Online safety (e-safety) is an important part of our Computing provision and is taught and reinforced throughout the year in all year groups. This ongoing approach ensures that pupils regularly develop their understanding of how to stay safe, responsible and respectful online, and are supported to make positive choices when using technology both in school and at home.
