Music at St Andrew's

At St Andrew's CE Primary School, we follow the Kapow Primary music scheme to deliver a high-quality, engaging music curriculum that inspires all children to develop a lifelong love and enjoyment of music. Our approach is designed to build confidence, increase self-expression and give every child a strong sense of achievement.
We believe that music is a universal language that provides rich opportunities for creativity, exploration and reflection. Through our Kapow curriculum, children develop a secure understanding of how music is created, produced and communicated. They are taught to sing and play a range of musical instruments, with regular opportunities to develop and refine their skills through practical, collaborative and performance-based activities.
Children also listen to, appraise and respond to a wide variety of music from different historical periods, styles and cultures, including the work of great composers and musicians. This helps them to develop their musical understanding while also deepening their appreciation of their own culture and the diversity of others.
Through Kapow, music at St Andrew’s is creative, inclusive and progressive, ensuring that all pupils can flourish musically while growing in confidence, teamwork and enjoyment.
