Outline of the National Curriculum at St Andrew's
We are committed to providing the highest quality learning experiences for all children. We aim to develop a love of learning that will stay with the children throughout their lives.
Key Principles
At St. Andrew's we believe that children learn best when:
- activities enthuse, engage and motivate children to learn and foster their curiosity and enthusiasm for learning
- assessment informs teaching and learning activities are well planned ensuring progress
- the learning environment is purposeful and children feel valued and cared for
- there are strong links between home and school and the importance of parental involvement in their children's learning is recognised, valued and developed.
We follow the 2014 National Curriculum guidelines and have developed a creative curriculum which offers challenge to all learners. Our long term yearly overviews can be seen by following the links on the Curriculum Overviews page of this website.
We follow the letters and sound scheme for our Phonics and our reading scheme is the Oxford Reading Tree.
We also use an innovative reading therapy scheme called 'Reading to Dogs'. For more information click the link below.
